Bishkek court allows rallying in city center

BISHKEK. April 7 (Interfax) - The Bishkek City Court has permitted the holding of rallies in the city center, the Kyrgyz Prosecutor General's Office press office told Interfax on Monday.

"The city court has upheld the motion of prosecutor's office to cancel the restriction on holding peaceful gatherings. The court board on civil cases has made such a ruling," the press office said.

The prosecutor's office contested the ruling previously returned by Bishkek's Pervomaysky district court upon the request of the state administration, according to which it was banned to hold protests and rallies in central Bishkek, in particular on the Ala-Too Square and near the government office, until May 1, 2014.

"The superior body has upheld the cassation motion of the Bishkek Pervomaysky district's prosecutor at full and withdrawn the restrictions on the time and place of peaceful gatherings," the Prosecutor General's Office said.
