Over sixty Party of Regions deputies demand extraordinary session of Donetsk region's council

DONETSK. April 9 (Interfax) - The division of the Party of Regions in the Donetsk region demands an extraordinary session of the region's council to resolve the crisis.

Andriy Shishatskiy, who filed his resignation as chairman of the Donetsk region's council on Wednesday, told a press conference that over sixty Party of Regions deputies have demanded such a session.

Shishatskiy said he had left the Party of Regions and has filed his resignation as chairman of the Donetsk region's council.

"I believe it is unacceptable and ineffective to work when there is even the slightest mistrust. The Donetsk region's council needs to work effectively now like never before. The Party of Regions is now in the opposition, but, at the same time, it has assumed responsibility for taking the region out of the political, economic, and other crises, and we need help with that," Shishatskiy said.

The Donetsk region's council is composed of 179 deputies.
