Energy consumption in Russia could grow 0.7% in 2014 - ministry
MOSCOW. April 9 (Interfax) - The Russian Energy Ministry expects energy consumption on Russia's United Energy System (UES), excluding isolated electricity systems, to exceed the level of 2013 by 0.7% this year, the ministry said in materials.
Growth will be at last year's actual level of consumption, the ministry said.
Electricity output on the UES is forecast at 1 trillion kilowatt hours (kWh) this year. Nuclear power plants are expected to produce 168.4 billion kWh, down 2.3% from last year's actual level of production. Hydropower plants are forecast to produce 176 billion kWh, up 0.7%, while combined heat and power plants are expected to produce 687.8 billion kWh, up 1.6%.
