Donetsk regional administration HQ still under control of pro-Russian activists

DONETSK. April 10 (Interfax) - Some 300 pro-Russian activists remain on the barricades that were built outside the regional administration headquarters on Oktyabrskaya Square in Donetsk, Ukraine.

The barricades have been reinforced with sand bags, car tires, timber boards and parts of furniture, an Interfax correspondent has reported.

A TV set removed from the administration building can be seen nearby. People can watch Russian television programs on it.

There is virtually no police presence in the area.

Eyewitnesses claim that several hundred pro-Russian activists remain inside the regional administration building.

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaliy Yarema said earlier that the Donetsk regional administration headquarters would be cleared of protesters peacefully by 11:00 a.m. local time on Thursday.
