Pushkov: Russia is inch from leaving PACE

MOSCOW. April 10 (Interfax) - Russia is close to leaving the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), State Duma International Affairs Committee Chairman Alexei Pushkov said.

"The Russia-PACE relationship is undergoing the worst crisis in its entire history. Russia is an inch from severing relations with PACE," Pushkov tweeted.

He told Interfax earlier that the Russian delegation did not attend PACE plenary meetings, which reviewed Russian powers in the Assembly, because it regarded those meeting as a political farce.

Russia will make a final decision about its further steps after the PACE vote on its powers, Pushkov added.

The Russian delegation may lose voting rights and access to the activity of Assembly ruling bodies and PACE monitoring missions until the end of this year in the worst-case scenario.
