French Navy reconnaissance vessel Dupuy de Lome enters Black Sea
ST. PETERSBURG. April 11 (Interfax-AVN) - The French Navy is building up the presence of its warships and other vessels in the Black Sea, a spokesman for the Russian Navy's Main Staff told Interfax-AVN on Friday.
"On Thursday evening, the reconnaissance vessel Dupuy de Lome of the French Navy sailed through the straits and entered the Black Sea," he said.
The Dupuy de Lome is expected to stay in the Black Sea until April 30.
The French Navy's rescue vessel Alize, which carries equipment intended for the most complicated types of diving operations, entered the Black Sea on April 26, the spokesman said, adding that the Alize can also be used as a base for combat diver teams.
"The missile carrying destroyer Dupleix of the French Navy is expected to enter the Black Sea on April 14," he said.
The French Navy's replenishment tanker VAR stayed at Turkey's Port Marmaris from April 7 to April 10.
"The U.S. Navy's missile carrying destroyer USS Donald Cook sailed through the straits and entered the Black Sea a few hours before the Dupuy de Lome," the spokesman said.
The U.S. naval ship is expected to stay in the Black Sea until April 24.
The Turkish Navy's maneuvers, which involve, among other ships, seven frigates, a corvette and two submarines, continue in the Black Sea.
