U.S. diplomat visited Bishkek, Osh - embassy
BISHKEK. April 11 (Interfax) - Douglas Frantz, an aide to the U.S. secretary of state on public relations, is having meetings in Kyrgyzstan, the U.S. embassy in Bishkek told Interfax on Friday.
The embassy said Frantz, who is now passing through Kyrgyzstan, has had several meetings in Bishkek and Osh.
The source said Frantz arrived in Bishkek on April 10 and is now in Osh, where he has met with government officials, civil society, and journalists to discuss the role of social networking sites in Kyrgyzstan and delivered several lectures to students.
The embassy said Frantz is scheduled to visit Georgia, South Africa and Turkey on April 8-18.
The embassy said Frantz has not had any official meetings or negotiations with high-ranking Kyrgyz officials.
