About 1,000 gather for opposition rally in Moscow - police

MOSCOW. April 13 (Interfax) - About a thousand people, among them media people and bloggers, took part in an opposition rally on Sakharov Avenue on Sunday, the Moscow Police Department told Interfax.

"The organizers earlier planned to bring together up to 50,000 participants on Sakharov Square, but just about 1,000 gathered, including media people and bloggers," a police spokesman said.

Although the rally was in support of freedom of speech, the organizers did not allow reporters from some media to attend, the spokesman said.
