Pro-federalization demonstrators gaining control of Makeyevka admin HQ

KYIV. April 13 (Interfax) - Federalization supporters in Makeyevka, a city in the Donetsk region, gained control of the city government headquarters on Sunday.

More than a thousand pro-federalization demonstrators with Russian black-and-orange victory ribbons have filled the square in front of the city administration, the Donetsk news website KID reported. Others are holding Russian flags. A Russian flag and the flag of the "Donetsk People's Republic" have been raised near the building. People are also gathering near the security service headquarters, but the group is not very large so far.

Mayor Alexander Maltsev and police chief Alexei Miroshnichenko offered to meet with pro-federalization activists, according to the website.

A rally is on in the square near the government building. Many have arrived with children. Activists want to erect barricades following Donetsk protestors' example, KID said.
