Putin orders proposals on continental shelf external borders in Sea of Okhotsk

MOSCOW. April 14 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a list of instructions on the issue of Russia's rights to the continental shelf in the northern and central parts of the Sea of Okhotsk.

"The Russian Foreign Ministry, the Justice Ministry, the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Defense Ministry, the Federal Security Service of Russia are to duly submit their proposals on measures required to establish the external border of the Russian Federation's continental shelf in the Sea of Okhotsk and prepare paperwork regarding Russia's sovereign rights, taking into account the recommendations of the Commission for the continental shelf borders," according to the president's order posted on the Kremlin's website on Monday.

The aforesaid government departments and agencies are to report on their efforts to comply with the order by July 1, 2014.
