Peacekeepers preservative, not solution to problem - Medvedev

MOSCOW. April 15 (Interfax) - Introduction of peacekeeping troops normally only preserves the problem, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev told a press conference after his meeting with the Belarusian and Kazakh heads of government in Moscow on Tuesday.

"The actual authorities (in Ukraine) must acknowledge reality and start working for their country instead of waiting for some mandates, including the United Nations," he said.

"As a rule, the arrival of peacekeeping troops does not solve anything. Regrettably, it simply preserves the problem," the Russian prime minister added.
