Stalls in Vostochny cosmodrome construction are unacceptable - Medvedev

MOSCOW. April 16 (Interfax) - Delays in the Vostochny cosmodrome construction should be eliminated and construction speed should be enhanced, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.

"Around 160 billion rubles are foreseen until 2015 in the framework of Russia's federal space program for this period and sub-program, which is dedicated to the Vostochny cosmodrome. Funds are significant and it is necessary to spend them rationally, efficiently and understanding where very ruble is spent. However, I have been told that issues exist here," Medvedev said at a meeting regarding issues on the Vostochny cosmodrome on Wednesday.

"Delays in timelines of carrying out certain projects have occurred" due to the re-calculation of cost sheet indices of the construction and the necessity to hold another state inspection of the project and cost sheet documents, the prime minister said.

"It is clear that if financing stops, the construction will stop, so I draw the attention of video conference participants and those, who are present in the White House, that such stalls are unacceptable in the future," Medvedev said.
