Talk about possible introduction of troops to Ukraine could have negative impact on situation development - Putin

MOSCOW. April 17 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said he currently did not want to talk about what reasons could make him send troops to Ukraine.

"You know, I do not want to even talk about this now because any careless words amid this situation, they could have negative impacts on the situation itself," Putin told reporters following the hotline held with citizens.

"I hope that efforts, which are being taken by diplomats in Geneva [at the four-party talks between the United states, European Union, Russia and Ukraine] will bring results and allow our Ukrainian colleagues and our Ukrainian friends throughout Ukraine, wherever they live, to find a consensus, which would ensure interests of all citizens of the country, including, of course, the Russian-speaking population in the east," Putin said.
