Ukraine govt plans "comprehensive constitutional reform" - Yatsenyuk

KYIV. April 18 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian government is ready to conduct constitutional reform, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said.

"The Ukrainian government is ready to conduct comprehensive constitutional reform that will strengthen the regions' powers and abolish regional and district state administrations," he said in a televised address on Friday.

The government is ready to change the Budget and Tax Codes to enable territorial authorities to have appropriate resources, the prime minister said.

This will make it possible to "fill each Ukrainian territory with a financial and economic resource," Yatsenyuk said.

The text of his speech was approved by the parliamentary majority and signed by Yatsenyuk and Verkhovna Rada Speaker and Ukraine's Acting President Oleksandr Turchynov.
