Lavrov to negotiate with Mozambique FM in Moscow
MOSCOW. April 21 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will negotiate on Monday with his Mozambique counterpart Oldemiro Baloi, who is currently paying a working visit to Moscow.
"The foreign ministers will confer on the condition and prospects for bolstering bilateral interaction and exchange opinions on pressing problems of the international and regional agenda. The bilateral political dialogue has become sustainable," says a report posted on the Russian Foreign Ministry website on Sunday.
It emphasized that Maputo had demonstrated understanding of the Russian steps regarding the Ukrainian crisis with its decision to abstain in the March 27 vote on the UN General Assembly resolution "The Territorial Integrity of Ukraine."
The ministry recalled that Baloi was reciprocating the visit Lavrov paid to Mozambique in February 2013.
"The Russian-Mozambique interaction has been constructive in global and regional issues at the UN and other international platforms. The time-tested Russian-Mozambique relations rest upon the principles of friendship and mutual respect and are immune to political fluctuations. They have been developing actively in the recent period," the report runs.
"Russia and Mozambique have lately stepped up business contacts. Favorable prerequisites are shaping up to broaden mutually advantageous cooperation in trade, the economy, investment, humanitarian and other issues. Geological survey, mining, ferrous metallurgy, petrochemical industry, agriculture, fisheries, energy and infrastructure projects, education and personnel training are listed among the priority areas," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"The Moscow visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Mozambique will help strengthen positive trends in the bilateral relations consistent with long-term interests of our countries and peoples," the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized.
