Kazakh Hitler-themed magazine insults feelings of millions - Astana
ASTANA. April 21 (Interfax) - The Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry has said the nationwide release of a magazine with Hitler on the cover is "inadequate and unacceptable."
"We consider the release of this magazine dedicated to one of the bloodiest villains in the history of the humankind to be absolutely inadequate and unacceptable. It is an inssult to the feelings and memory of millions of people, especially the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, who bravely fought against fascism, defending their homeland against the monstrous Hitlerite machine, and fell on the battlefields," the Foreign Ministry spokesman Nurzhan Aitmakhanov told Interfax.
Currently competent authorities in Kazakhstan are trying to assess the content of the magazine issue on the subject of its violation of the Constitution and the laws, "following which conclusions will be made and relevant measures taken," he said.
"Following this publication we received a note from the Russian Embassy to Kazakhstan, a reply to which will be sent to the Russian side via diplomatic channels," Aitmakhanov said.
Earlier the Russian Embassy in Astana sent a note to the Kazakh Foreign Ministry underscoring the absolutely unacceptability of this sort of publications in the republic and called for an adequate government response.
The Kazakh-language magazine "Anyz Adam" (The Legendary Man) dedicated its April issue to Adolf Hitler.
