Capital investment in Belarus down 1.3% in Q1

MINSK. April 21 (Interfax) - Fixed capital investment in Belarus fell 1.3% year-on-year in January-March to 41.5 trillion Belarusian rubles in constant prices, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said.

Investment in the acquisition of machinery, equipment and transport totaled 14.9 trillion rubles (35.9% of the total), which was 5.5% less than in January-March 2014. Imported machinery and equipment accounted for 60.1% of the investment, and 25.2% was procured in Belarus itself.

Construction and installation rose 0.4% in January-March to 22 trillion rubles and accounted for 53% of total investment.

Capital investment in Belarus came to 202.7 trillion rubles in constant prices in 2013, 7.4% more than 2012.

The exchange rate on April 21 was 9,950 Belarusian rubles/$1.
