European Galileo GNSS to grow to ten satellites in 2014
MOSCOW. April 23 (Interfax-AVN) - The European Space Agency (ESA) has scheduled three Soyuz-ST missions from the Kourou Space Center in French Guiana for this year. Each time two Galileo navigation satellites will be lifted into orbit, ESA Moscow office head Rene Pischel told Interfax-AVN on Wednesday before the 8th International Satellite Navigation Forum.
In his words, Soyuz-ST launchers coupled with navigation satellites will take off in June, October and December 2014.
Four Galileo satellites have already been inserted into orbit, and the upcoming launches will expand the global navigation satellite system (GNSS) to ten vehicles, Pischel said.
