Odesa picket demands state system referendum
ODESA. April 24 (Interfax) - Several dozen people picketed the Odesa Region Council, which converged for a meeting on Thursday.
Up to 40 demonstrators demanded that a referendum on Ukraine's state system principles be held before the May 25 election, an Interfax correspondent reports.
They also insisted on the state status of the Russian language and the resignation of the Odesa regional administration head.
Several deputies proposed to support the demands of the demonstrators in an appeal to the national administration. Yet the initiative gained less than 10% of the votes.
