Putin, Merkel differ on fulfillment of Geneva agreements on Ukraine - Kremlin

MOSCOW. April 25 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel differ on the issue of the fulfillment of the Geneva agreements on Ukraine, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said.

"They had a detailed discussion on the fulfillment of the Geneva agreements of April 17. I can say that they differ on some issues relating to the fulfillment of this document," Ushakov told reporters.

The phone conversation between Putin and Merkel took place on Friday.

"We reiterated that Kyiv should have shown readiness to implement them from the very beginning, which would probably have stimulated appropriate movements in the southeast. However, Kyiv opposed the outcome of the Geneva meeting from the very start. Explanations were given that did not correspond to the issue being addressed, which lead to the situation that we have now," Ushakov said.
