Rakhmanov's candidacy for USC chief approved by the relevant authorities

MOSCOW. April 25 (Interfax) - Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Alexei Rakhmanov's candidacy for the position of OJSC United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) chief has been approved by the relevant authorities, and a government directive for the board of directors to vote is expected soon, two sources close to USC's board of directors told Interfax.

According to the company's charter, the board of directors has the right to dismiss the current sole executive body and name a temporary president.

Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov announced on Friday that the decision to replace USC's president had been approved, and this would take place in May. "I don't think we'll physically manage [to do this] by May 1. It will definitely [happen] in May," he told journalists, adding that the decision had already been made. Manturov declined to name the new chief, however.

Interfax's sources have said Rakhmanov would be the new chief, and his appointment has been confirmed by the appropriate authorities.
