Russian deputy PM warns Kyiv against using U.S. fuel for Ukrainian NPPs
MOSCOW. April 26 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin views Ukraine's plans to start using nuclear fuel from the United States for its nuclear power plants (NPP) as dangerous.
"If Kyiv decides to use American nuclear fuel for its NPPs, it means it hasn't learned any lessons from Chernobyl," Rogozin said on Twitter on Saturday.
The Ukrainian state nuclear power operator Enerhoatom said earlier that it planned to switch to using U.S.-made nuclear fuel in three nuclear reactors instead of Russian fuel assemblies.
Some experts believe U.S. fuel is not suitable for Ukrainian NPPs and that its use may negatively affect their operations.
