Ukrainian presidential candidate Dobkin denied entry into Kherson

KYIV. April 28 (Interfax) - The Party of Regions' presidential candidate Mykhailo Dobkin has been denied entry into Kherson for talks with workers and residents of the Kherson region, reportedly in connection with the seizure of the Kherson airport and of the plane in which Dobkin reportedly arrived in Kherson.

Dobkin was to hold a press conference with an account of these events in Kharkiv at noon, local time.

A posting on the Kherson online website says, citing local activist Maxim Magda, that about 150 local activists, representatives of the self-defense forces, and of the Automaidan movement and Right Sector, had arrived at the airport, bringing along eggs, flour and brilliant green dye.

Activists also formed a cordon of cars to block Dobkin's entry into the city.

"Dobkin's plane landed a kilometer away from the airport building. Activists blocked all exits and entrances. Most of them walked onto the airfield and the bravest of them ran to the plane. Dobkin was seen through a side window, but he did not look like he was planning to disembark. The plane took off after about 20 minutes. Reports arrived at about 10:30 a.m. that he had landed in Kharkiv," Magda was quoted as saying.
