Sanctions against Russia fall into no frameworks, they only consolidate Russian society - Chaika
MOSCOW. April 29 (Interfax) - Russian Prosecutor General Yury Chaika said he criticized the sanctions introduced by the West regarding Russia having compared them with the so-called Magnitsky law.
"I reason as a legal expert - I think that these sanctions do not fall into any frameworks, as does the Magnitsky law, which was passed without any legal grounds," Chaika said when talking with reporters in Moscow on Tuesday.
The sanctions introduced "will allow for the consolidation of Russian society, the growth and improvement of the production sector," he said.
The Western sanctions will prompt Russian enterprises to search for new development paths, the prosecutor general said.
"This will lead to our enterprises working where our partners used to. I think that this will give a good impetus to our production," Chaika said.
It has been announced that economic and financial sanctions were introduced regarding a group of Russian enterprises, officials and businessmen in response to Russia's policy regarding Ukraine, he said.
