Russia's Tenex sees no risk of sanctions in uranium trade
MOSCOW. April 29 (Interfax) - Russia nuclear materials exporter Techsnabexport (Tenex) sees no threat of sanctions in uranium trade.
"We see no real risk of sanctions where uranium trade is concerned," Valery Govorukhin, the company's first deputy general director for strategy and communications, said during public consultations on the draft of the company's 2013 annual report.
He said there was an understanding that there was a risk of sanctions, "but no alarming sign s." "I'm confident this sphere will go untouched," he said.
If sanctions are applied there is a mechanism to level them out, Govorukhin said, adding that uranium could be supplied via the International Uranium Enrichment center.
"Fuel would be supplied to the IAEA, which would buy this material from the International Enrichment center and deliver it to the client, so we have a special guarantee mechanism," he said.
