Interior Ministry could stand behind Kernes attack - Dobkin
KHARKIV. April 29 (Interfax) - Former Kharkiv mayor and presidential candidate Mykhailo Dobkin of the Party of Regions, said the Ukrainian Interior Ministry could stand behind the recent attempt on the life of his friend, Kharkiv Mayor Hennadiy Kernes.
"I have the impression that the idea of committing a contract murder on Kernes could have been generated at the Interior Ministry's main office," Dobkin said at a press conference in Kharkiv on Tuesday.
He criticized Deputy Interior Minister Serhiy Yarovoy's suggestion that federalization supporters could have plotted the attempt on Kernes's life. "You have failed to prevent the crime, so don't engage in profanation . Don't say publicly that you have learnt something. First conduct an inquiry, compare the facts and then say whose order it was," Dobkin said.
He said Kernes and acting Interior Minister Arsen Avakov have disliked each other for a long time.
The Prosecutor General's Office should take the investigation from the police and pass it to another agency, Dobkin said.
