Slovyansk mayor tenders resignation - media
KYIV. April 30 (Interfax) - Members of the Slovyansk town council met at an extraordinary session on Wednesday to consider the town mayor's letter of resignation, according to the Slavgorod.ua website.
"The session was attended by a total of 42 deputies who took note of the resignation letter from the town mayor Nelya Shtepa. As of today Shtepa has officially ceased being the mayor of Slovyansk. That the former mayor should leave the building of the executive committee was not an issue. The signature has been delegated to deputy mayor Oleh Tytyanin," the website said on Wednesday.
The reporters were not allowed into the session room, the information was obtained from several deputies who attended the session. "The session focused on the signing of an agreement to transfer part of the executive committee building for the needs of the Slovyansk self-defense. The deputies have also approved the town coordination council led by the first secretary of the Communist Party (local branch) Anatoliy Khmelevoy," the media said.
