Rosneft could invest 400 bln rubles in major gas projects in four years
MOSCOW. April 30 (Interfax) - Rosneft plans to invest 400 billion rubles in major gas projects in the period 2014-2018, a company representative said in a conference call.
"Capex for gas projects will be 400 billion rubles in 2014-2018. These are not just Rospan and Kharampur, but also the Yuzhno-Chaselskoye, Russko-Rechenskoye and other assets," the company said.
It also said existing gas assets could be producing 100 bcm of gas in 2020. "We think a target of 100 bcm of gas by 2020 can be achieved solely with existing assets," it said.
A year ago Rosneft said in a presentation that it would have to buy gas assets capable of producing 6 bcm a year in order to reach the target.
Rosneft in the course of last year bought the outstanding 49% stake in gas producer Itera and became the owner of 51% of its main asset, Sibneftegaz, which is capable of producing 12 bcm a year and has the potential to produce 18 cm a year. Rosneft has also been negotiating the purchase of gas producing enterprises from diamond miner Alrosa for nearly a year, but has not yet reached a deal.
