Russia and Chile to discuss military-technological cooperation

SANTIAGO. May 1 (Interfax) - Russia and Chile have significant potential in terms of military exchanges, Chilean Foreign Minister Heraldo Munoz said after talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday.

"The defense minister of Chile will be present at the lunch with Sergei Lavrov. There will be an opportunity to discuss these issues," Munoz said.

"Chilean parliamentarians will be there as well. We will be able to discuss with them the possibility of ratifying a set of agreements, including an agreement on military-technological cooperation with Russia," the minister said.

Following the meeting with Lavrov, Munoz also said: "We discussed a number of concrete issues, in particular the situation in Syria, Iraq, Iran and, especially, Ukraine. We are quite grateful to Russia for providing us with a first-hand account of this situation.'

"We also discussed cooperation within the UN," he said.
