Russia waiting for Estonia's reaction after vandals attack Soviet pilot monument

MOSCOW. May 6 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry has called an act of vandalism against a Soviet pilots monument in an Estonian village as "an affront to the memory of those who freed Europe from the brown plague."

"We are expecting the Estonian authorities to give an adequate response to what happened, and take exhaustive measures to find those responsible and prevent similar provocative incidents in the future," the Ministry's Department of Information and Press said on Tuesday.

"Another act of vandalism against the monument to Soviet soldiers in Estonia is seen by us as an affront to the memory of those who freed Europe from the brown plague. We consider especially cynical the fact that it happened ahead of the Victory Day celebration," the commentary said.
