U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Burns holds talks in Tashkent
TASHKENT. May 7 (Interfax) - Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov and U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in Tashkent, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry press office told Interfax on Wednesday.
"The state of and prospects for Uzbek-U.S. relations were discussed during the meeting and opinions were exchanged regarding certain international and regional issues," the press office said.
U.S. Ambassador to Tashkent George Krol attended the meeting as well.
According to the information of the U.S. Embassy, during his time in Tashkent, Burns will meet with Uzbek leaders and will discuss a number of issues, including the situation in Afghanistan and the region, and economic and humanitarian issues.
Burns will also meet with mass media and Uzbek civil society representatives.
Burns visited Uzbekistan in July 20009 and July 2012. It is expected that upon completing his visit to Uzbekistan, Burns will go to Astana.
