Crimea, Sevastopol to get over 55 bln rubles to balance budgets - Medvedev

MOSCOW. May 8 (Interfax) - The Russian government will allocate Crimea and the city of Sevastopol more than 55 billion rubles to balance their budgets in 2014, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.

"We will approve the allocation of subsidies from the federal budget for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol - it is proposed that more than 55 billion rubles be allocated to balance the budgets of the new constituent members [of the Russian Federation] and pay monthly pensions," Medvedev said at a government meeting on Thursday.

This, he said, will enable the constituent members to "finance priority spending commitments," including the indexation of salaries.
