Kyiv proposes launching national-unity dialogue on May 14

KYIV. May 9 (Interfax) - National-unity roundtable discussions will start in Ukraine on Wednesday, May 14, said Ukraine's interim prime minister, Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

"Ukraine is ready to hold and is launching a national dialogue and roundtable discussion on Wednesday, which is fresh proof that the country needs unity, dialogue and peace," he told the press in Kyiv on Friday.

On Thursday, Ukraine's parliamentary speaker and interim president Oleksandr Turchynov and Yatsenyuk released a joint statemenet saying that all-Ukrainian national-unity roundtable discussions would be held. "We are announcing today our initiative to hold all-Ukrainian national-unity roundtable discussions. We are prepared to join dialogue with all the parties that pursue legitimate political goals and intend to defend them using legal means - those who have not stained their hands with blood. We invite representatives of all political forces from all regions, civil society and experts to start a dialogue on all issues and problems facing the Ukrainian people today," the joint statement says.
