Donetsk leaders ready for talks with German foreign minister
MOSCOW. May 12 (Interfax) - The leaders of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) are ready for talks with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, DPR government co-chairman Myroslav Rudenko told Interfax.
"We certainly remember what happened after Germany became, among other European countries, a guarantor of talks during the Euromaidan demonstrations in Kyiv. Despite all these guarantees, militants still toppled the incumbent government and seized power. So while talking to him is possible, we have not forgotten what happened," Rudenko said.
The German foreign minister said earlier that he will arrive in Kyiv on Tuesday, according to Western European media outlets.
He also told reporters in Brussels that during his trip to Ukraine he will visit the southeast of the country.
Steinmeier is set to persuade the fighting forces in the Ukraine that launching a dialogue is the only way out of the conflict.
