Crimean investigators hold check on media reports regarding Ukrainian Deputy Lyashko - Markin
MOSCOW. May 13 (Interfax) - Crimean investigators check mass media reports with regard to the attempt of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada Deputy Oleh Lyashko to take two children from a boarding school in Crimea, Russian Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said.
"Pre-investigation check on the mass media report on the attempt of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada Deputy Oleh Lyashko to take children 'for holidays' to Turkey is being conducted," Markin told Interfax on Tuesday.
Information - that in July 2012 Lyashko attempted to take two children, aged 12 and 14, from Crimea, from the Yalta boarding school they attended for "holidays" in Turkey - was posted on a news page of an online portal citing the Russian children's rights commission, Markin said.
"Taking into account that named teenage boys, who could have been hurt by the Ukrainian deputy's actions, currently reside in Crimea and are Russian citizens, the head of the Russian Investigative Committee's Investigative Department for Crimea has organized a pre-investigation check," the spokesman said.
Proceedings aimed at determining all the circumstances of the deputy's involvement in committing any related offense are currently being held, Markin said.
"A procedural decision will be made following the check," the spokesman said.
