Mosenergo to add 1,000 MW of capacity in Moscow before year-end

MOSCOW. May 13 (Interfax) - Mosenergo plans to commission three new power blocks in Moscow with 1,060 megawatts of combined capacity before the end of 2014, the genco said in its annual financial statement.

Mosenergo plans to launch operation of a 420-MW combined cycle gas turbine unit (CCGT) at Combined Heat and Power Plant-16 (CHPP-16) in June, a 220-MW CCGT at CHPP-12 in October and a 420-MW CCGT at CHPP-20 in November.

The heat capacity of the new blocks will amount to 220 Gcal/hr at CHPP-16, 120 Gcal/hr at CHPP-12 and 220 Gcal/hr at CHPP-20.

The units are being built under capacity supply agreements, which guarantee a fixed rate of return on project investment.

Mosenergo has already commissioned a 65-MW CCGT at CHPP-9 this year.

Since 2007 the genco has added over 1,700 MW of CCGT capacity at CHPP-21, CHPP-26 and CHPP-27.

The Mosenergo investment program totaled 31 billion rubles (excluding VAT) in 2013 and is expected at roughly 30 billion rubles in 2014.

Mosenergo is controlled by Gazprom Energoholding (GEH), a wholly owned subsidiary of Gazprom .
