Brahimi to quit as UN-Arab League envoy on Syria from May 31 - Ban
NEW YORK (UN). May 13 (Interfax) - The Special Representative of the United Nations and the Arab League (LAG), Lakhdar Brahimi, is resigning his post, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said on Tuesday.
The decision, which was made after consultations with the LAG Secretary General Nabil el-Arabi, will take effect on May 31, Ban said.
For his part, Brahimi said he quits the post of the special representative on Syria with regret.
He said he was certain the UN secretary general will do his utmost to find a way out of the Syrian crisis.
