Kazakh parliament adjusts law against terrorism financing

ASTANA. May 15 (Interfax) - The Senate (the upper house of the Kazakh parliament) approved at a plenary meeting on Thursday a draft law "On the Adjustment of and Additions to Some Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan Regarding the Prevention of Legalization (Laundering) of Criminal Incomes and Financing of Terrorism," an Interfax correspondent reports.

Pursuant to the lawmaking procedure, the document shall be deemed approved by the parliament and submitted to the president for signing.

Vice-Premier, Finance Minister Bakyt Sultanov said at a Majlis plenary meeting earlier that the bill aimed to eliminate shortcomings in the fulfillment of recommendations of the Eurasian group on combating money laundering and financing of terrorism (EAG).

For instance, it is planned to broaden the list of financial monitoring subjects.
