Donetsk People's Republic to demand that Ukrainian border guards "unseal" border to Russia on May 18
MOSCOW. May 16 (Interfax) - Representatives of the Donetsk People's Republic intend to demand that Ukrainian border guards open the border to Russia on Sunday.
A rally initiated by "people's governor" Pavel Gubarev is scheduled to be held in Donetsk on May 18. The activists intend to demand "the unsealing of the border to Russia and demand that the military units stationed on the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic swear their allegiance to the people of the Donetsk People's Republic or leave our land," the portal Novorossia reported on Friday, citing Gubarev.
"We will issue a civil address to Ukrainian border guards, customs officials, and the military units located on the territory of our republic. They have to immediately reassign themselves to the administration of the Donetsk People's Republic or leave their place of work or service and move to other regions," Gubarev said.
Gubarev reiterated that these demands apply to all officials working on the border, airport and aeronavigation workers, and Ukrainian military units.
