Long-range bombers, fighters to take part in Russia's Aviadarts contests

MOSCOW. May 19 (Interfax-AVN) - Seventy-one aircraft will take part in the planned Aviadarts 2014 air force competition in western Russia on May 21-25 for the title of the country's "best Air Force crew," an air force spokesman said on Monday.

"Tactical, army, military transport and long-range aircraft will be involved," Col. Igor Klimov told Interfax-AVN.

They will include Sukhoi Su-25, Su-25SM, Su-27, Su-27SM, Su-24, Su-34, Mikoyan MiG-29, Ilyushin Il-76MD, Tupolev Tu-22MZ planes and Kamov Ka-52, Mil Mi-24, Mi-28N, Mi-8MT and Mi-8MTV5 helicopters, he said.

The contests will be held on three sites in the Western Military District - the air personnel training and test center in Lipetsk, a facility of the Air Force Academy in Voronezh, and the Pogonovo aviation training site in Voronezh region.
