Putin: Russia-China military-technological cooperation a key stability factor
SHANGHAI. May 20 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has described cooperation between the Russian and Chinese Defense Ministries as a "serious factor of security".
"As for military-technological cooperation and contacts between the Defense Ministries, such cooperation is an important factor of stability and security in the region and in the whole world," Putin said after negotiations with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Shanghai on Tuesday.
There are also joint projects in civil aircraft building, he said.
"We have good prospects and good projects, including those linked with the developed with a wide-body [passenger] airplane and a heavy-lift civil helicopter," the Russian president said.
Cooperation between car manufacturers of Russia and China has been developing as well, he added.
"We have been working in all areas, and progress has been made in all of them," Putin said.
"We will promote our financial infrastructure. Vigorous steps are already being taken to boost mutual settlements using the national currencies. We will also think about new instruments in the financial sector," he said.
