Train that caused rail disaster near Moscow belonged to Ukraine - Russian Railways

MOSCOW. May 20 (Interfax) - The freight train that crashed into a passenger train traveling from Moscow to Chisinau belongs to Ukraine.

"The freight train, which caused a rail disaster near Moscow, belongs to Ukraine," a source in Russian Railways told Interfax on Tuesday.

"Unfortunately, the train was badly worn out," the source said.

A source familiar with the situation told Interfax that the freight train that crashed into a passenger train on Tuesday was carrying cargo for Renault from Romania.

Online sources have released reports claiming that the container train "Romania" runs along this particular route. It is operated by the Liski state transport service center (Ukraine.) According to the Liski Center's website, the train runs between Romania, Ukraine and Russia.
