Medvedev: Many interstate cooperation forms vanish if Russia responds to bad economic scenario
MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax) - The probability of a bad economic scenario in Russia inflicted by the West is no more than 3%, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev opined.
Medvedev spoke about two possible economic scenarios in an interview published by the newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda on Wednesday.
"The first [scenario] is moderately optimistic. In this case the economy will demonstrate a small growth at some point and a small decline at another," the prime minister said.
In his words, this scenario as a rule passes unnoticed by average citizens.
"The other scenario is bad and inflicted by the West. Even in this case we will be honoring our social commitments. But this is a tough scenario and we will have to retaliate against it if it happens. Then many forms of interstate cooperation to which we have become accustomed may simply vanish," the prime minister remarked.
As to the probability of the second scenario, Medvedev said, "According to my estimates, 2-3%, no more."
