Russian antisubmarine aircraft fly over Sea of Japan's neutral waters

MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax-AVN) - The antisubmarine aviation of the Pacific Ocean Fleet (POF) on Wednesday conducted scheduled flights of its antisubmarine aircraft Ilyushin Il-38 and Tupolev Tu-142M3, POF spokesman 1st Captain Roman Martov told Interfax on Wednesday.

"These flights were conducted by the antisubmarine aviation over the neutral waters of the Sea of Japan and a southern part of the Sea of Okhotsk. The crews of the Il-38 and Tu-142M3 aircraft executed various training tasks in the air and enhanced their skills of flying over a featureless area in daytime," he said.

"Short- and long-haul flights have become habitual exercises in the course of combat training of the fleet forces. They are performed strictly in accordance with the international rules for using airspace," Martov said.
