Moscow City Court unmoved by inclusion of some judges in U.S. Magnitsky List

MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax) - Moscow City Court Chair Olga Yegorova is not concerned about the inclusion of a number of Moscow judges in the so-called Sergei Magnitsky List compiled by the U.S.

"We take a calm approach toward all this. The inclusion of judges in some lists cannot have any effect on their work on administering justice," Yegorova told Interfax on Wednesday in commenting on media reports that some Moscow City Court judges had been added to the sanction list of Russian officials who, in the view of U.S. authorities, played some role in lawyer Sergei Magnitsky's death at a Moscow detention center in 2009.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury had reported earlier that it added 12 more Russians to the Magnitsky List.

The U.S. introduced the Magnitsky List in 2012 instead of the Jackson-Vanik Amendment, which had restricted trade between Moscow and Washington since 1974.
