Roscosmos to hold GLONASS talks with U.S.

ST. PETERSBURG. May 22 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) is planning to resume talks over placement of GLONASS stations in the United States over the next few weeks, Roscosmos deputy chief Sergei Savelyev said.

"I think it will happen in the very near future, over the next two or three weeks," Savelyev told Interfax-AVN at an international economic forum in St. Petersburg on Thursday.

Putting GLONASS stations in the U.S. would have both political and technical benefits for Russia, he said.

"It would still give us a chance to walk away from the unpleasant situation over sanctions and continue cooperation," Savelyev said.

So far Roscosmos does not have any information about the U.S. reaction to the last week's announcements regarding the U.S. GPS stations in Russia, he added.
