Moscow wants Russia-NATO meeting to take place after May 27 - top diplomat

ST. PETERSBURG. May 23 (Interfax) - Moscow is not refusing to hold a Russia-NATO commission meeting at the level of ambassadors, but it proposes rescheduling it for a later date, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Meshkov told reporters in St. Petersburg on Friday.

"We are not refusing to hold such a session at a later date. The only thing we need to do is to find a date that will suit all sides. May 27 does not suit the Russian side," Meshkov said.

It is difficult to say now when exactly this meeting may take place, he said.

"As you know, we had been working for three weeks to set this session for the earliest possible date. We were prepared to hold it any time," the deputy foreign minister said.
