Termination of security operation, troops' withdrawal from southeast first task of new Ukrainian authorities - Yanukovych
ROSTOV-ON-DON. May 26 (Interfax) - Viktor Yanukovych believes that the first priority of the new Ukrainian authorities is to stop the bloody war in the country and withdraw troops from southeastern Ukraine.
"The first and foremost thing, what needs to be done, precisely now and immediately, is to stop the bloody war against their own people. Withdraw the troops from the Donbas area and southeastern Ukraine," Yanukovych said in a statement issued in Rostov-on-Don on Monday.
It is necessary "to stop the standoff immediately and give people peace," he said. "Resolute action is needed to restore peace and order on our land," Yanukovych said.
