People of Donbas are not inclined to see Poroshenko in Donbas
DONETSK. May 26 (Interfax) - Denis Pushilin, chairman of the Supreme Council of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, said he will only talk with Petro Poroshenko, apparent winner of the Ukrainian presidential elections, through mediators.
"The situation in the Donetsk People's Republic is getting tense because of the statements made by Petro Poroshenko on his visit to Donbas. People are not inclined to see him here," Pushilin told a press conference on Monday.
Pushilin said dialogue with Poroshenko is only possible in the presence of mediators, adding that he considers Russia to be such a mediator.
"Martial law was put in place in the Donetsk People's Republic today. It envisages a curfew, which will be put in place locally, in some parts of the Donetsk People's Republic," Pushilin said.
Voluntary mobilization was declared in the republic before martial law was put in place, Pushilin said, adding that he believes general mobilization will be declared soon. Reserve officers aged under fifty and men aged under 35 are urged to join the self-defense forces, he said.
