Slovyansk militia offers to release bodies of slain Italian reporter, Russian interpreter
MOSCOW. May 26 (Interfax) - The militia of Slovyansk is willing to release the bodies of Italian photojournalist Andrea Rocchelli and his Russian interpreter Andrei Mironov, who were killed by mortar fire in the eastern Ukrainian city on Saturday, to their official representatives or close relatives, the city's "people's mayor" said on Monday.
"Today post mortems are underway, and by evening we will be ready to release the bodies, only we can't understand who to release them to. Until now nobody has come over to collect them," Vyacheslav Ponomaryov told Interfax.
"We will release the bodies as soon as we see the people who have come over to collect them, see their papers and make sure that they are indeed official representatives or close relatives of the victims. We're not going to raise any obstacles. Let them come to me," Ponomaryov said.
